Furrblings-A New Type of Furby

Anyone who remembers the late 1990s is sure to remember Furbys. These little owl-like critters took the world by storm when they were first introduced, and sold by the millions until around 2000 when the makers had exhausted all of the different variations and colours. They were famous for their ' unintelligible ' furbish language as well being the first affordable domestic robot-and despite a short-lived relaunch in 2005, nothing quite like Furbys has been seen since ... Until the introduction of Furrblings in 2011 that is, and I was lucky enough to get a peek at them at the London Toy Fair!

Although Furrblings are a brand new creation, the parallels with Furby are plain to see. The giant bulging eyes are the only facial features, yet they are designed in such a way so thatthey are expressive face as a whole. Described as "fun loving ball of fluff" Furrblings are slightly smaller than their elder Furby cousins but no less fun.

Available in four colours-crazy pink, light purple, dark purple and blue-each one has a unique personality which changes and evolves as time goes on, just like Furby did. Named Mindy, Loco, Okki and hippies, these cute little robots are distributed in the UK by Vivid Imaginations and are suitable for any child aged four years or over. Whilst individual colours will be an initial attraction for kids, each Furrbling has at least ten different emotions in-built and they display different ones depending how you play with them-I can see kids want to collect all four variations.

Cuddling, patting or stroking your Furrblingwill inspire it to react in some way. With personalities that include giggly, mischievous, quiet and laid back, there's a different Furrbling for everyone. The inspired mixture of bright colours, soft fluffy fur, electronic wizardry and adorable cuteness means that Furrblings are likely to get a great deal of attention when they hit the toy shop shelves. With an affordable price tag to boot, Furrblings could easily become the collectable sensation of the year.

Mindy is the real fun loving party animal that always wants to be the centre of attention, whilst There is a bit of a juvenile and still hasnt really learnt how to behave properly! If being cool is your thing then Hippies is probably for you although she does have a tendency to be too laid back at times. Okki can best bedescribed as the most sensitive Furrbling and may need more attention and cuddles that her counterparts ... but I wouldn't like to take bets on the most popular character!
